Journey

Born in 2007, Amber Chow is a Canadian pianist and composer.

Rapidly gaining attention for her evocative sound, her violin concerto, Journey, was performed in 2024 to great acclaim by violinist John Lowry under the baton of conductor David Bui with the Vancouver Island Music Academy Orchestra. That same year, her string quartet Sldkajsd was premiered at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, performed by the Arneis Quartet.  Most recently, Amber won first place in the International Young Women Composer Competition with her vocal work, Wild Sky.

A student of Dr. Michael Berkovsky (piano) and David Stone (composition), Amber completed her ARCT in Piano Performance at age thirteen and has earned awards at  Canadian Music Competition, Toronto Kiwanis Festival, the CCC Toronto International Competition, the American Protégé Competition and the Crescendo International Music Competition.She collaborated Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major with the Greater Toronto Symphony Orchestra in 2022. In 2023 she performed Bach’s Concerto in D Minor with the Vancouver Island Music Academy Orchestra.

Amber co-founded the Music For the Golden Ages, a volunteer organization dedicated to bringing music to retirement homes. In her free time, Amber enjoys writing and directing her own plays, teaching Entrepreneurship in DECA, and cuddling with her cat.
